Halloween! We had so much fun this year, and best of all we had lots of chances to wear our costumes. The month went fast, and it was busy but we were able to still squeeze in lotsa fun. We decided that our family costume theme would be "The Greatest Showman." Everybody was on board except for Beckett who talked about being Marshmello, but in the end he went with being a lion tamer instead. Oh, and we only had 4 carved/drawn pumpkins this year because poor Asher went to bed early with a headache. Next year he's going to totally make up for it!
We had a few parties, including an adult one, a family one and then the ward party. At the ward party, the kids ran around getting loads of candy at the trunk or treat, and every year I think to myself, ugh, this is so much candy, we don't need to do trick or treating too! And then, we always do. Oh well, this was likely Asher's last year anyway, so maybe that's reason enough.
Dawson had a preschool field trip to the local Pumpkin Patch, and it was Beckett's day home from school so he was able to come along! It was fun and they boys were cute together. Beckett was helpful and made it an extra awesome outing for D. Dawson especially liked feeding the baby goats, although keeping the adult ones away was tricky.
Halloween night, we went to the Christison's house for soup and socializing! Afterwards we met up with Passey's and Tracey's for trick or treating around the neighborhood. I stayed with the group for a while then headed home to hand out some of our candy so we wouldn't be stuck with even more! Watching Dawson was the BEST. Little trick or treaters are like magic at Halloween, skipping from house to house, in awe that people just give you candy if you knock at their door. He truly loved it all. After running to each house, elephant ears flopping, he'd say, "I got my candy!" So darling. Beckett was a little mad at us because we wouldn't let him ride his scooter from house to house, in the dark. After their friend broke his arm last year doing just that, we were definitely not giving in on that one. Safety! Asher had fun with his friend Noah, and before we headed out he wanted to know how to say trick or treat in Spanish, so he used that all night instead. At the end of all the candy mania, the kids poured it all out (missed getting that pic this year!) and noticed that Dawson had ended up with the most. Yup, it's true boys! Cute little kids dressed as animals will indeed get more candy, haha. The kids topped off the night with our annual pumpkin cake and candy sorting while watching Charlie Brown.
Happy Halloween from the Reitz fam aka, your friendly neighborhood circus.
